Giorgos Vavatsis was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1974. He studied Visual &
Live Art in Gloucestershire University, in England from 1995 to 1998. In 2000, he
returned at his hometown and he established his own workshop, where he still
works. His ceramic works has been shown in several solo and group exhibitions
in Greece and abroad. He participated in many ceramic symposiums around
Europe and Asia. In 2012, he won the 1st prize in the 50th Panhellenic Ceramic
Competition and in 2024 the 1st prize in the 1st Biennale of Contemporary
Keramics, in Santorini, Greece. He teaches ceramics in various institutions and
studios around Greece and regularly in his own studio too. In 2013, he
established the ceramic production company, «Hakah Ceramics Design
Production», specialized in stoneware table and drink wares. In 2017, he creates
a project space named “6exi Contemporary Ceramics”, where national and
international invited artists expose their work in Thessaloniki. He is a member of
Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece since 2011, of Artaxis.com since 2018 and of
International Academy of Ceramics (IAC) since 2021.
